BEST WRITER WIN FOR PAUL LUDDEN AT LEITH SHORT FILM FESTIVAL

Another award. Another milestone for Being Billy.

Writer and producer Paul Ludden has won the Best Writer Award at the Leith Short Film Festival for Being Billy, continuing an exceptional festival journey for the MancMade Productions short.

Set against the lingering shadow of the Falklands War, Being Billy explores memory, friendship, trauma and the fragments of ourselves that remain when so much else begins to disappear. At its centre is a Falklands veteran living with dementia, whose relationship with a new carer unlocks memories buried for more than forty years.

The film stars Con O’Neill, alongside Becky Bowe, George Osborne, Trevor Dwyer-Lynch and Lisa Whiteside, and is directed by Ian Puleston-Davies, with bestselling author Lee Child serving as Executive Producer.

For Ludden, the Leith award is particularly meaningful: recognition of the writing that began the journey from page to screen.

It also adds another chapter to an increasingly successful festival run for Being Billy, which has collected selections, nominations and awards across the UK and internationally.

For MancMade Productions, it is further recognition of a simple ambition: tell human stories, make them well, and create work that stays with an audience long after the credits roll.

Creating Momentum.
